Sophomore Blues: Let This Be The First

If Its Loving That You Want - Rihanna Music Codes

I was suppose to write a blog on every single day of my first week of sophomore year, but due to my very busy and hectic schedule (NOT!), I neglected to update my page. Pardon me for my tardiness, dear readers. I simple had to cherish the first - and most likely the only - of my breezy weeks this academic year here in UP. I took the liberty of welcoming myself to sophomore year.

Now let the battle begin.

*****

I know, I've already posted my schedule twice (one incomplete, and one oh-not-so-complete-looking), but I take pleasure in viewing my uber sabog schedule that I have to post it again here, for more (haha). And maybe just so my blog would look like it has a lot going on for it.

Classes from Monday to Saturday, four of which only lasts 3 hours, while one runs for as long as 4 hours and 30 minutes only. Friday is Art Stud 1 day.

*****

First day of classes, and already my sked is allowing me to slack off.

Pol Sci 14 at 1130AM, and Prof. Frago seems mabait to boot.

Half of the class are from CMC (go MassComm!), yet I wasn't acquianted with a single one (my social life really needs an update).

Oh, good-looking guy was sitting two rows behind me. Anybody know anyone named Mo from Engg?

We were grouped by college, and asked to introduce ourselves in class in a creative way, as well as say what we think Pol Sci 14 is about and our expectations of the class.

As always, excitement got the best of me, and I was "forced" to lead the group.

Ugh. A group of MassComm upperclassmen, with shiftees and transferees, and they choose little old me. Did I mention I was the youngest in the group? Not considering the standings of both shiftees and transferees, of course.

I think Prof. Frago enjoyed our little presentation, though. She was all smiles after. Well, she was already smiling when she entered the room.

I think I'll enjoy this class. As long as Mo's present, of course.

Next stop, SEA 30 at 1PM.

I had not the slightest idea where CIS Classroom C was. Good thing classmates kami ni Nephele.

Waited for her at CASAA, where I bumped into Bruha aka Earl and Harry (and someone else I can't remember - sorry).

I learned that the proper way of making beso doesn't include bruising your cheekbones.

Neph finally arrived after an eternity (exaggerating), and I was finally introduced to the Center for International Studies. Haha.

Classmates with Neph (K5 blockmate), RM & Vargas (Kalai people), Aiza (from my Team Building class), and Ate Phoebe (from my CWTS class).

After what seemed like forever (not exaggerating), Prof. Capili finally arrived. So I came face-to-face with the Sir Capili, famous for his CW10 classes and the an absence of aging despite all the places he's been to, people he's met, and all his experiences.

Tempting question: "Sir, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"

Laughed my head off with his jokes. He's funny, really.

I guess this time, it's the professor I'm going to enjoy.

Notables:
Bumped into Nades on my way to the ATM. Chatted the hour away.
LS, Rodson, and Roy saw me at SC. Ack.
Mikey, Miriam, and Joyce A. were at the PNB ATMs.
Emil has a class right beside my Pol sci 14 class. Neighbors. Haha. Classmates sila ni Zim.
Bumped into Dang, Allana, and Shielo while Neph and I made our way to SEA 30. Blockmates!
Martin was in the Archeo 10 class beside us. He's with Clark and Bill. Emil's in the SEA 30 class after us. Stalker. Hehe.
Jopay, Gidget, and Paolo Celso proved quite a company after class, when I ran across them at AS steps.

Day two proved to be quite eclectic. And important, considering it was my so-called Prerog Day. Both the subjects I prerog-ed for fall on this day, and happen to be from the same department.

Art Stud 1 at 10AM was cancelled. Prof. Paulino was going for some sort of effect when he posted on the door that we would meet on Friday the 13th.

Good thing nagkasalubong kami ni Gihan. Turns out we're classmates.

Well, so much for Art and Society.

Ran into Bru (again), and went to CASAA to meet up with other Dos boys, plus Lambert. Passed by Yabut sa lobby, who soon followed after.

We saw someone. But for emotional purposes, I'd rather just mention and not discuss. Damn, moving on is hard to do.

Art Stud 170 (yes, you read it right, and no, it's not a typo) started an hour late. What was scheduled at 1PM was began at around 2PM.

Capital OP. Everybody else was either an Art Stud major or was older than me. Took a corner seat and pretended I was invisible.

Made new friends. Ate Mai and Ate Mai. Haha. UP Asterisk members. I guess it's a sign I should really join.

Prof. Respicio is super cute (you know, in a cute kind of way). And funny. And motherly. And great.

We were made to decide our own grading system. HAHAHA.

Vigan trip around August. And museum visits to boot. Field trips galore.

We were made to draw a map of the Philippines and identify the islands, the tribes that lived where, and write what we considered major turning points in Philippine history.

I should have paid more attention when we were talking about the Philippine geography in high school.

And I should have practiced my artistic skills.

Needless to say, it was a piece of crap. Oh well. That's why I majored in Journalism.

Had to go down to check something. Ended up seeing Rollie. Nothing else follows (para iwas isyu). Hehe.

Saw Blanch outside the room, waiting for one of my classmates.

Ran into Jed, and decided to make tambay at AS lobby. Then saw Bru.

Kuya Rene and Terry soon followed. Bru left and came back with Markus in tow.

Saw Ralf and Esther. Josh(ua) joined after. Then came Hazel, and Steph.

Team Building Class reunion. I missed you guys!

Stayed until it was dark enough to be called night. Hinatid ni Kuya Rene and Terry sa Molave. Thanks.

Oh, by the way, I panicked when I forgot to get a copy of the required readings for Pol Sci 14. They were up for discussion the next day.

Umaygash.

*****

Thursday was crazy. I've proven my theory that when you prepare for something, IT NEVER HAPPENS.

Woke up early to have my ID countersigned at the CMC library, and saw Kuya Jordan at the Film department. Ended up going towing him upstairs.

I just wanted have my ID stickered, and already - early in the morning - i find myself having to line up. Ugh.

Next we went to FC to (finally) get me a copy of the readings. Define long line. Ugh.

It was after 30 minutes of standing when I found out Ate Photocopier (not her real name) already had a prepared copy. ?#@!$%^&*.

Oops. Wrong copy. I'm taking up Pol Sci 14, Ate, not Pol Sci 140. I had to take my butt back in line.

Saw two of my classmates and ended up asking for four copies when my turn came. Good Samaritan role-playing.

Tambay at DAS library. Art Stud is calling out to me.

Ran into Bru (once again), and ate with together at Katag. Chitchat galore, until we had to part ways. Sniff.

Came into class kinda early, then saw J9 just coming out of her class.

Scenario: Scream, Jump, Jump, Laugh, Kiss, Kiss, Hug, Hug. Embarassment was not an issue.

Then Emil went out of his class to talk with us. Turned out he had a copy of Heywood's Politics with him. I LOVE YOU EMIL! You saved me.

Too much chitchat caused me to get back in class with Prof. Frago about to discuss. Oops, sorry.

Tried to be quiet the entire period, since I wasn't really able to read any of the readings. Turned out she wasn't going to discuss any of it at all. ?#@!$%^&*?#@!$%^&*.

The Writ of Amparo is a source of pride for me. Enough said.

Curse you, long lines.

Sea 30 was aircon-cold. Was there before Neph and RM, but Vargas was already making himself comfortable. Tim was making epal. Hehe.

Bought Panda and Choco Crunchies. Chocolate cravings. I couldn't help it.

New classmates. And about a two-thirds of the period was devoted to their introductions plus Sir Capili's insert-comment-heres.

It was... nice.

*****

Friday merits a separate blog.

*****

I shouldn't have woke up. My Com 100 professor didn't show up anyway (which was so predictable). That is so Sir Guioguio.

Wow. Comm 100 class turned out to be a K5 all-girls reunion. Classmates with Annie, Allana, Dang, Abigurl, Kirsten, Shielo, and Gidget, plus batchmates Rachel, J-Ann, Journdaine, Diyosa, & Grace.

They all ended up somewhere I didn't bother going, since I wasn't feeling well, currently purita, and sleepy. Blame my roommate for the sleepiness. Hehe. Joke lang roommate.

Speaking of roommate, she also has a class at the room beside us. Same schedule as mine. Awww. Meant to be roommates. Haha.

I wasted another day. Tsk.

*****

And so I am stuck here, in my room GC 18 at Molave Residence Hall, blogging. The internet connection here is useless, because I can't open anything other than Friendster. And Miriam's Gossip Girl Season One's no help, either; it just won't cooperate and play. The lunch at the cafeteria downstairs is fish, and I don't to say anything else about that to let you know that I don't eat fish. I am bored to death, sleepy, hungry (craving is more like it), and darn missing Eljay.

Sigh.
